No one wants to steal a bride’s thunder, and if the bride happens to be Kim Kardashian, it would be next to impossible to do. But her sister, Kourtney Kardashian, came pretty close to accomplishing that as the maid of honor, looking every bit as elegant and gracious as her younger sisters. How does this 32-year old mom manage to hold her own against the much touted looks of sibling Kim? She does have a method of keeping her weight in control, and it’s not as difficult as you might think.
The Workout
Kourtney Kardashian fits in exercise when she can, which isn’t easy when you have a 2-year-old. She’s a runner, and being a mom, it’s a lot easier to grab a quick jog when you suddenly find yourself with a half-hour of free time than to get things together enough for a trip to the gym. Having her iPod ready to go is all she needs to get her going.
The Diet
Anyone who has successfully lost weight knows that strict diet plans that meticulously keep count of every calorie simply do not work. Your math skills may improve, but not your state of mind and, when it’s all said and done, not your weight either. Kardashian, like so many others, found that, with a few simple adjustments, she really didn’t have to give up anything, and she sure didn’t have to carry a calculator with her to eat.
Like most people, she grew up eating a lot of processed foods (hey, it was the 80’s……all you have to do is hear the music from that time to know where our heads were at). After giving birth to her son, she began adding fresh foods and produce to her diet. She still routinely has a big, fresh salad for lunch. Eventually, she started making other little changes to her regular diet, like substituting organic and whole grain products here and there. And she still eats her all-time favorites, like Mexican food and chips. When you’re eating fresh regularly, there’s no food you have to avoid.
Workout, Diet and WHAT?
There’s one more important ingredient to Kourtney Kardashian’s weight loss plan.
You know now that you need the right fuel (food) to keep the motor running (your metabolism), but all the fuel fed into the most immaculate engine still won’t run right without greasing it up a bit. That’s where water comes in. It’s just as important as the food and the workout. Keep in mind here that we didn’t say “liquid”………we said WATER. Not diet drinks, not iced tea………just plain water. Not only does it keep your system going by flushing everything through, it also has a knack for fooling your stomach into thinking there’s food on the way when it starts to nag you with hunger pains. Don’t worry about all the times you’ve heard that everyone should drink 64 ounces of water a day. If you’re going to count ounces of water, you might as well count calories. You’ll see and feel a difference just with one glass or one water bottle a day.
